5 Reasons Why a Luxury Chalet in France is the Best Choice in the ‘New Normal’

As ski resorts in Australia and New Zealand prepare to open for this winter, in Europe they are getting ready to open their glaciers for summer skiing.

And with skiing back on again in France, thoughts are already turning to next (northern) winter ski season.

Luxury Chalets in France

At Top Snow Travel we have found that demand for luxury chalets is higher than ever in the ‘new normal’.

In this blog post we look at the reasons why a luxury chalet in France is the best choice for your next European ski holiday.

Privacy

In the new normal of social distancing, Europe’s elite are moving away from five-star hotels to five-star chalets.

Perhaps the biggest draw is the privacy that your own chalet can offer, creating a safe haven within your own ‘social bubble’.

Unlike a hotel, there are no shared communal spaces, such as a lobby or restaurant, where you have to keep your distance from other residents. Your fitness room, sauna, hot tub and luxury living space are reserved just for you.

Simply curl up in front of a roaring log fire after a hard day’s skiing and enjoy the magnificent views with your family and friends.

Luxury

Most luxury chalets in France offer all the facilities that a top-class hotel can offer, and often even more.

The quality of chalets available in the Alps is significantly better than a decade ago. Properties have been renovated or rebuilt from scratch to the highest standards.

Apart from superbly appointed bedrooms, with large ensuite bathrooms, many chalets have their own swimming pools, wellness areas and even movie theatres.

And if your chalet is not one of the many ski-in, ski-out properties, then there’s no need to walk in your ski boots across the village. Expect your own private chauffeur to be available at any time to transport you to and from the slopes each day.

Catered or Self-Catered Options for a Luxury Chalet in France

When you book a luxury chalet, you can choose to have it catered or to go self-catered.

If you choose a catered option, you will have a team allocated to your chalet for your use only during your stay. They will prepare and serve gourmet-quality meals for you. Your staff will also ensure the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

If you prefer to maintain a distance from your team, their service can be adjusted to suit your requirements. Staff can leave immediately after meals are served and cleaners can be instructed to only visit the chalet when everyone has left for the day’s skiing.

Alternatively, you might want to hire a luxury chalet on a self-catered basis. That would give you the opportunity to explore local restaurants, prepare your own food, or even bring your own private chef with you.

Private Instructors & Mobile Ski Hire

Chris and Gilles from Top Snow Travel have over 30 years’ experience of organising ski trips to France.

We can use our local knowledge to organise your ski hire fitting to take place in your chalet, saving you having to trek through the snow to the nearest rental shop.

There is also no need to stick with the local ski school. We can arrange private instructors for you and your group, eliminating the need for waiting or distancing in group lessons and helping you get the most out of your tuition.

For guests on longer trips looking for an educational element, we can also arrange private tutors for children wanting to learn the local language or keep up their studies.

Huge Ski Areas

A luxury chalet is not worth much without a ski area to match, but France is blessed with huge ski areas for you to enjoy.

Imagine eight Thredbos, all inter-connected with fast, modern lifts – that’s the scale and technology you can enjoy when you ski in France.

You could base yourself in Courchevel, Méribel or Val Thorens in Les 3 Vallées – the world’s largest ski area with 600km of pistes.

Or just another hour along the Tarentaise valley, choose between Tignes and Val d’Isère in the 300km of the Espace Killy. Alternatively Les Arcs and La Plagne are part of the Paradiski, which offers 425km of connected pistes.

Stay The Whole Season

In these current unique circumstances, we’ve even had a request to book a chalet for the whole season!

In a world where it’s easy to work remotely, and with fibre broadband available in many resorts, why not self-isolate in the mountains?

There’s plenty of space, lots of fresh air and plenty of snow to enjoy in your coffee breaks!
