Valmorel Ski Resort

A purpose-built family resort set around a charming pedestrian-only village, which is decorated with fairy lights at night, Valmorel sits at the start of the Tarentaise Vallee. Built in the 1970s, it consists of five villages – Valmorel, Doucy, Nâves, Celliers and LaLéchère-Les-bains – which are connected by shuttle buses and a cable car.

Ski area

Linked to St François Longchamp to form the Grand Domaine ski area, the altitude ranges from 1,400 to 2,550 metres and is best suited to intermediates. Fifty lifts provide access to 165 kilometres of trails, including 14 green runs, 25 blue, 11 red and five black.


Mostly ski-in/ski-out accommodation in stone and wood buildings no more than four storeys high.


As well as thermal baths, spas and a cinema, activities include snow shoeing, dog sledding, sledging and paragliding.
