La Rosiere ski resort overview
The most low-key resort in the Tarentaise Valley, the purpose-built La Rosiere is at the same altitude as Val d’Isère and Courchevel (1,850 metres), but without the crowds. It is a great destination for families, and for those who like the idea of popping over the border to Italy for pizza and pasta.

Expect long, gentle, sunny slopes on the French side and more challenging skiing on the north face of the mountain, in the Aosta Valley. Combined with La Thuile, there’s 160 kilometres of runs accessed by 37 lifts. They include eight green runs, 25 blue, 31 red and 13 black. There’s also a terrain park, children’s terrain park, big air bag, boardercross and snow cross area for off-piste skiing.
Affordable, family-friendly apartments built in a traditional style.
Wander among the stalls at the weekly markets, or go sledging, fat biking, snowshoeing, dog sledding, paragliding, ice driving, ice diving or snow kiting. There’s also a cinema, bowling alley and ice skating rink. The nightlife is pretty quiet, but there are a few bars and restaurants to choose from.
