A one-hour drive from Geneva Airport, La Clusaz is a quintessential French village centred around a charming church tower. Derived from the word cluse, which means ‘a narrow path between two mountains’, La Clusaz has hosted World Cups and World Championship ski competitions.
It is also the home of Reblochon cheese, which can be found in fondue and raclette in its abundance of atmospheric timber restaurants, and you can even visit a cheese farm.
December 23, 2017 – late April, 2018
La Clusaz has 125 kilometres of trails, with 49 lifts leading to 18 green runs, 30 blue, 29 red and seven black. It has easy access to Manigod ski resort via the lifts and regular shuttle buses to the neighbouring village of Le Grand Bornand, which are free for Aravais ski pass holders.
La Clusaz also has a terrain park which is divided into expert and amateur lines, the La Clusaz Fun Zone for families and a boardercross. A new detachable six-seater chairlift will debut at Crêt du Merle for the 2017/18 season.
You’ll find plenty of mid-range hotels and apartments, plus luxury chalets and the five-star Au Coeur du Village Hotel.
Activities include snowshoeing, tobogganing, sledging, ice skating, horse riding, dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. There’s also an aqua centre with indoor and outdoor heated pools, a cinema and casino, some surprisingly lively bars and a couple of nightclubs.
