The main resort in the Maurienne Valley, Val Cenis is a great value family resort just across the way from the more famous Val d’Isere. Quieter than larger French resorts, with shorter lift queues, it consists of five villages that sit between 1,300 and 1,500 metres.
December 10, 2017 – April 20, 2018
Val Cenis has the longest green run in Europe. The 10 kilometre l’Escargot descends from 2,100 to 1,400 metres, giving beginners the opportunity to go to the top of the mountain. Linked with neighbouring Termignon it offers 125 kilometres of terrain, with 12 green runs, 19 blue, 21 red and five black. There’s also three boardercross and two easy terrain parks.
Where to stay in Val Cenis
There’s two cinemas, a few spas and a leisure centre with an indoor pool, ice-skating rink and climbing wall. You can also go dog sledding, snowshoeing, paragliding, ice climbing and ice diving, see baroque art in churches and chapels and visit the archaeological museum. Nightlife is fairly quiet.
